2023 :

Blanche et Christian-Henri Roullier

Voyages entre académisme et impressionnisme

From April 28th to November 12th, 2023

This year, the Charlieu Museums invite visitors to discover a unique temporary exhibition dedicated to two major cultural and artistic figures of the region: Blanche and Christian-Henri Roullier, both painters and illustrators. The brother and sister, whose parents were originally from Charlieu, maintained a special connection with Charluais throughout their lives, where they regularly lived and depicted in their works.

In a newly dedicated and renovated space, the public will enjoy a custom-designed scenography within the historical setting of the former Hôtel-Dieu of Charlieu. The exhibition aims to blend artistic and biographical elements, highlighting the uniqueness of the Roulliers' artistic expression and their extraordinary destinies. Visitors will thus discover artists deeply attached to Charliendine society, who have honored both the landscapes of the region and exotic lands.

The exhibition will be open starting from April 28th during the usual Museum hours and will run until the end of the cultural season. Workshops and guided tours will be organized throughout the year.

! Attention !

The exhibition space is located on the first floor of the building, without an elevator. The stairs are equipped with a ramp, and benches and chairs are available for visitors.
